Eric Bowes is a climber and photographer based in northern New Mexico. Originally from Canada, he moved to the Southwest in 2020 to pursue a career as a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Since then, Bowes has traveled extensively to climb and make photographs in the Four Corners states—Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico. He is particularly interested in documenting climbing in the Land of Enchantment, an often overlooked yet wild and varied region.
For Bowes, photography serves as a vessel for connection with people and the broader climbing community. He aims to leverage his art to support local and national climbing initiatives that keep climbers safe, protect our lands, and advocate for our community’s needs - from land access to inclusivity in the sport.
